Real men wear purple
With it's December release, I tend to wonder what Xzibit would have done if Bush were not re-elected. Then I remembered that despite my nine-month optimistic detour from reality, there was no chance that Bush was not going to be re-elected. Regardless, just like Bush, what is bad for the country is good for him, because Weapons of Mass Destruction is a big step forward from his much hyped last effort, Man vs Machine, which by the way is quite available at discount, overstocked prices at most retail chains.
In a perfect world, Xzibit would not have to work so hard for his stardom. To a lot of people, he is merely the host of MTV's Pimp My Ride and, oh yeah, he also releases records or something. He has all the ingredients for success in mainstream rap; pristine, huge sounding beats, impressive and surprising punch lines, "Red-and-Meth" style personality, and a gruffy, yet uniquely comprehendible voice. His relative lack of top-tier success makes me think that someone out there has naked pictures of Xzibit with a girl scout troop and are threatening to click send if he cracks Billboards Top Ten. Cop this album now, because as far as gangster rap is concerned, this is the best of what's around.
