House of Flying Daggers DVD
by Stephen Lin, Editor in Chief
January 24, 2005 + Boston, MA

House of Freaking Awesome!
House of Flying DaggersDirector Zhang Yimou (Hero) has done it again. He's blended stylish cinematography, gorgeous color, a great cast, and a compelling story into a great big wonderful imported Asian hot pot of totally freaking awesome.

The core cast of Zhang Ziyi, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Andy Lau does a wonderful job of bringing the somewhat convoluted plot of politics, love, espionage, and betrayal to glorious life.

Once again championed as an actress by Zhang Yimou, the beautiful and graceful Zhang Ziyi (who plays a pseudo blind martial arts dancer hooker assassin spy) takes another step toward becoming an international superstar.

Zhang Yimou vs. Zhang Yimou
While House of Flying Daggers really is an incredible movie, Hero remains the better film. Both offer the same quality of cinematography, acting, action, and increasingly impressive special effects, however, the grand scale of Hero's plot keeps it a tier above House.

If you can't wait for the domestic DVD release, House of Flying Daggers is available now at a great low price from our pals over at Poker Industries.
