The IncrediblesOy-mutha-f*ckin'-vey! Editor Steve here. I'm incredibly sorry for the crazy long delay of new content. Insane props to Hip-Hopped Up on Goof Balls Staffer DJ Timid for churning out literally dozens of articles for me during the doldrum. As always, here's our yearly recap on the best music, movies, and random stuff of 2004. [Sponsored by Instructional Exotic Dancing Videos for Women - CLICK HERE!.]

Stephen Lin, Editor in Chief
Best Album: Muse Absolution
Best Movie: New Police Story (see below; Shaun of the Dead and Spider-Man 2 were both in consideration but lost because of the following reason...
Best Comeback: Jackie Chan for New Police Story, easily his best film in seven years (gave me chills)!

Jay Mastaitis, Tastes-Like-Burning Staff Writer
Best Album: Really hard choice here. I'd love to go with Franz Ferdinand's tiptoe tapping debut but I'm afraid I have to pick Green Day's American Idiot. I think the album is actually better than Dookie, which was one of the best albums of the last decade in it's own right.
Best Movie: There's still a lot I haven't seen (Ray, Life Aquatic) so take this with a grain of salt, but out of what I have seen it's a tie between Spidey 2 and Kinsey. I know Missie hates Liam Neeson but he was absolutely fantastic here.
Best Nintendo Fanboy Game: Fire Emblem. And I've played Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, too. But Fire Emblem has sucked more of my life away than just about any game I've played. Great story, great characters and the game is uber challenging in hard more. Played it through three times and loved every second. (And the Best Choke In Postseason History goes to the 2004 New York Yankees. Sissy-slap A-Rod will be accepting the award.)

Kenny Hamshaw, Caucassianal Staff Writer
Best Album: Prince Musicology
Best Movie: Kill Bill 2
Best Thing EVER: That my parents convinced me not to join the army a few years ago.

Lori Shea, Smoof-Like-Butta(fly) Staff Writer
Best Studio Album: U2 How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (Steve, I feel like a moron, but was that Mraz's official live album you copied for me and Lisa? Or just a collection of Mraz stuff you got us? Either way, I would like to nominate the CDs you sent us as favourite "Live" album collection. [Editor's note: Live bootlegs were from Archive.org. :) ])
Best Movie: Garden State
Best Song Title of 2004 (And in the history of the world!): "I Was Sent By God to Get You Off" by Aussie band Regurgitator (bless them!)

Lisa Turner, Groovalicious Editor
Best Album: Jason Mraz Tonight, Not Again. Finally, something new for our ears, and a dvd of Mraz shaking his little butt to boot.
Best Movie: Napoleon Dynamite. Any man who can seranade me with the "Still, I love technology" song has the key to my heart. (Runner-up: Finding Neverland, for combining my two unhealthy obsessions: Johnny Depp and Peter Pan.) Best Press Release: J.K. Rowling's announcement of the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. July 16, 2005 is circled on calendars around the world.

Matt VanWinkle, Lemurish Staff Writer
Best Album: A single, actually. Alex Rodriguez' soulful cover of Avril Lavigne's "So Much For My Happy Ending."
Best Movie: The first I saw in 2004 remained the best: Big Fish
Best sporting event of 2004: The trampoline at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Or, just possibly, THE RED SOX WINNING THE WORLD SERIES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 86 YEARS!

Johanathan Mason, JapaNerd Staff Writer
Best Album: Madvillain Madvillainy
Best Movie: Shaun of the Dead
Best Anime: Dead Leaves

Missie Horal, Scattagoric Staff Writer
Best Album: Helen Horal There is Only This Place (more info at HelenHoral.com)
Best Movie: Spider-Man 2
Best Sports Moment EVER!: Do I even need to type this? RED SOX WIN! Although Papi's walkoff homerun in Game 4 is a VERY close second.

Kerry Sainato, Fuzzy Pink Staff Writer
Best Album: Tied betweed Nellie McKay Get Away From Me & Mike Viola and the Candy Butchers Hang on Mike
Best Movie: Dodgeball
Best fad that makes me money: No Limit Texas Hold 'Em

Janet Choi, Sweet & Sour Editor
Best Album: Black Eyed Peas Elephunk 2
Best Movie: The Incredibles
Best Purchase: The entire Sex and the City series

Joel Why, Curious Staff Writer
Best Album: Ima Robot (self-titled album); I know it came out in 2003, but I heard the album in 2004. And YOU probably haven't heard it at all. Go buy it. Now!
Best Movie: The Incredibles. <--insert your "The Incredibles was incredible!" pun here.
Best World Events: The Democrats retaking control of our government, and the Christian Right packing up and moving to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, never to return. Sigh...life is so much better in my world.

DJ Timid, Hip-Hopped Up on Goofballs Staff Writer
Best Album: Mic Stylez The College Dropouts
Best Movie: The Life Aquatic
Best Gadget: The QFO (the portable turntable/mixer invented by DJ Q-bert)

Ben McShane, Jaded Midwestern Staff Writer
Best Album: Modest Mouse Good News for People Who Love Bad News -- I know, every 20-something guy wearing a medium-sized t-shirt is going to say the same thing and everybody who was a 20-something guy wearing a medium-sized t-shirt five years ago will say "Dude, it's not even their best album. The old stuff is so much better." Well, that's fine. Good News is *still* the best new album of the year.
Best Movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind -- Grounded acting performances from big-name stars, creative visuals, and a terrific original and truthful script. Honorable mentions go to Hotel Rwanda, Sideways, and Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow.
Best Comic Book: Michael J. Straczynski's Supreme Power -- Mr. Amazing Spider-Man took an abandoned and forgotten z-list Marvel super-team, re-imagined it while maintaining it's DC-comics similarities, then made it relevent to today's social climate. Oh, the art and dialogue are worthy of masturbation, too. It's Smallville meets Stranger in a Strange Land and a hint of Citizen Kane. Yummy.

Kerri Skarfe, Other Worldly Staff Writer
Best Album: Rush Feedback
Best Movie: The Incredibles (I forgot to see Finding Neverland, though!)
Best Book and Best Moment of Relief: The Dark Tower

Justin Montanino, Angry Staff Writer
Best Album: Rilo Kiley More Adventurous (the best album in several years actually)
Best Movie: JibJab's This Land Is Our Land
Best bitter-sweet thing: No more bitching about the upcoming election

Manolo Moreno, A Non-Ukranian Staff Writer
Best Album: Cocorosie La Maison De Mon Reve
Best Movie: NOT Little Black Book
Best movie in an upcoming NMY review featuring awkward asians feigning sex: The Fruit is Swelling.

Jennifer Saylor, Comic Conventional Staff Writer
Best Album: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaran soundtrack. I love John Williams, what more can I say?
Best Movie: Really tough to choose just one, but I will go with The Incredibles. Great film for the everyone, from comic geeks to the family audience.
Best toy: Sweetums (from The Muppet Show)) action figure.

Lannon Unick, Somewhat Irish Staff Writer
Best Album: I'm not really a music buff, so my favorite album of "2004" (as in when I discovered it) would be The Best of The Doors.
Best Movie: The Terminal, closely followed by Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I finally got to see!!!
Best "Thing": Anytime I see the word "Thing" in quotes, it gets me thinking... I'd say it's a dead tie between my well-hung, sweetheart boyfriend, Gabe, and the guy who taught me exactly why all men should have their tongues, belly buttons, and penises pierced.

Who would you most like to see as the lead in Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman movie?
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Eliza Dushku
Sandra Bullock
Aria Giovanni
Summer Glau
Eva Longoria
Evangeline Lilly
Lynda Carter
