Dating advice and other tidbits
NMY: So, do you guys have any geeky guilty pleasures?

Stacy: don't know if this is geeky, but I love the show, Freaks and Geeks. In terms of geekdom, uh…I don't play video games.

Jamie Yeah. We need Drew here to talk about that. I like computers.

NMY: You're all basically saying, "I'm not a geek."

Jamie I might be.

Stacy: We're geeks in other ways like when it comes to meeting girls.

NMY: Oh, come on.

Stacy: I swear to God.

NMY: Oh-don't give me that. I don't buy that coming from musicians.

Stacy: I'm telling you, we're the worst.

Jamie It's true.

Stacy: We have terrible luck with chicks.

NMY: Yeah, come to think of it, I guess the album doesn't sound like you have that much luck.

Stacy: There were a couple times I was at a party and I met this girl. I was trying to chat her up and I kept saying the dumbest shit. Something would come out of my mouth, and I'd think, 'Oh my God, I can't believe you're saying that' in the back of my head. Then something as equally horrible would come out of my mouth. It was so bad I had to leave.

NMY: I think that happens to everybody. I listened to your song, "Hell Yeah," and it made me think about how do you ask someone out in a band?

Stacy: There are girls who are very forward when it comes to that. But I haven't hooked up with one girl that was like that.

NMY: I think it's more intimidating for a guy to approach a girl in a band.

Stacy:

American Hi-FiOh definitely. There's something very powerful about a chick with a guitar strapped around her neck. It's a mystery of the universe.

If you want to meet a guy or even a girl in the band you should go right up and talk to them. But you should walk up and just say, 'Hey, what's going on? I really liked your show. What's your name?'

Now, if the band is on tour and you're in town, you should say, 'Listen, I know a great bar next door. Why don't we go there and hang there? My friends and I are going there.' When people do that, we always go, if they're nice people. We go all the time. I jumped in a car last night and went to Taco Bell with a bunch of kids.

NMY: What about the femme-mullet? Is it hot or hick?

Stacy: I like the she-mullet. I saw a girl wearing the she-mullet. Would you say she-mullet?

Jamie Yeah.

Stacy: I saw a girl in L.A. wearing a she-mullet and she was totally hot. I dig it. I'm supporting it. I think it's hot.

NMY: Is there anything else you guys want to say?

Jamie Yeah, don't vote for George Bush.

Stacy: Vote for John Kerry. Go see Fahrenheit 9/11.
