Uhhhhh...
This is going to be a completely spoiler-free, specifics-free review of Irreversible. Why? Because it's so utterly disturbing, that I'd rather not think about it in too much detail.
If you were to take the gritty violence of Baise Moi, the realism of Saving Private Ryan, the reverse filming of Memento, the nausea-inducing shaky-cam of Blair Witch, the surreal feel of Mulholland Drive, the continuous takes of Time Code, you OUGHT to get a thought provoking and visually stimulating film. And I'm not saying that Irreversible isn't thought provoking and visually stimulating, but I'm also NOT saying it is.
The only universally good thing about this film that I can think of is Monica Bellucci. Literally everything else will subjectively be either really good or really REALLY horrible for each individual that see this. Not for the squeamish. Then again, maybe not even for those with strong stomachs.
