Scruffy Looking?
Nerf Herder. Sound familiar? If you are particularly well versed in Star Wars knowledge, you most likely already figured out the reference. Regardless, naming your band after tempermental, smelly, imaginary herb-eaters probably means you're not aiming for standard musical fair. Nerf Herder's a good pop punk band. They have a real familiar sound - tight harmonized vocals and guitars. But what set's them apart from other bands is all the tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Ok, so its just nerd rock. It's done well though. And they have several songs poking fun at teenage agnst, something which always makes me happy.
Where's the Buffet?
One of Nerf Herder's claim to fame is scoring the theme song for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I don't know much about the show (other than Buffy used to kiss Selma Blair), but me likey the theme song. I do think, however, that Nerf Herder should write a song for their next album making fun of the show. At the very least, it might piss off the corporate sponsers and make the band rebellious or something.
Four Deathstars for Nerf Herder. Whether it's "bengay on your nuts" or cutting your hair "like James Hetfield," the pop culture references and sarcasm is laid on pretty thick. Any band that has a song called "Pantera Fans in Love" is OK by me.
