Embarassing
While I push geekiness as hip here at Newmoanyeah, there's really no good excuse for my obliviousness to something exceptionally hip in the music industry that's been around for seven years. I'm talking about Brit-pop superstars Supergrass.
Their 2003 release Life on Other Planets is a splendid mish-mash of cool, throw-back rock n' roll blended with semi-modernized retro-quirk. If old school Bowie, T-Rex, and Pulp are up your alley, Life should definitely appeal to you.
This spacey, feel-good album may get stuck in your head. If this review, in any way, leads to that end, then I feel as if I've partially atoned for my previous ignorance. (And any band that covers The Smiths' "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" -- from The Smiths Are Dead tribute CD -- is okay with me.)
