AOhell: Best Anti-AOL Web Sites

AOL CDs filling up your mailbox? You know, I really need to get rid of my AOL. I've been meaning to do it for a while now and hopefully by this time next month I will be AOL free (except for the IM -- gotta keep that). Since AOL has taken over so many PC's in America and around the world (scary, that you can use AOL in Europe, Australia, and even in Canada) they have created quite the impact on our pop culture.

AOL Inspires the Public
It must be so wonderful for AOL to know that their hard work and dedication (inadvertently) pay off. The quest to rid the world of AOL's junk mail CDs brought the significance of AOL's potential for inspiration to my attention. They're supporting the arts!

I've got to hand it to this guy; he used his frustration with AOL to make an interesting piece of art. Not that I am an art expert or that I would have this in my house, but I think anyone who sees it will get a good laugh, at AOL's expense.

What will we have next?
So, I decided to do a bit more surfing to see what other wonders have been created as a result of AOL and their domination of the net. The first site I found after sorting through all the AOL propaganda was AOL Watch. Kerri will love this site, as when you enter, it says why AOL sucks and has a picture of the Master from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Right there! Nothing says evil like AOL and blood sucking creatures of the night! If you want to read about someone nit picking the hell out of AOL, go here! There's a newsletter you can subscribe to so if you don't have AOL, so you can still bitch about it with your friends. (Too bad I kept running into all this "useful" information about using AOL on my search. And no I didn't use the AOL search engine either!!)

The next site I found, AOL SUX Images, was pretty good. They specialized in humorous parodies of computer error messages and of the AOL format, in general.

That's plenty for now.
I probably could have found more sites, but why bother? Most of you are probably reading this on AOL and know it's overpriced and that their customer service sucks -- just ask anyone who's tried to cancel their service. Which reminds me, I need to switch over to a cable modem. Wish me luck in setting that up and getting rid of AOL. I haven't had too much trouble… YET. We will have to see what happens when I cancel! I will be strong and do it… though I might let them give me those two free please-reconsider-staying-with-AOL months while I move all my crap out of my favorite places.

Who would you most like to see as the lead in Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman movie?
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Eliza Dushku
Sandra Bullock
Aria Giovanni
Summer Glau
Eva Longoria
Evangeline Lilly
Lynda Carter
