Too Good to Be True
Lucky Charms Cereal - Editor Steve managed to sneak a thrid Star Wars reference in this week! The only reason I bought this box of Lucky Charms was so I could give Kerri the Muppets Take Manhattan DVD included inside. I would like to state for the record that AOL has found a new way to force their ads upon the unsuspecting public! When you buy the cereal for your free DVD, you're also getting a plug for AOL (with the free hours). They probably have a commercial before the movie, too-DAMN YOU AOL!!

Back to the Cereal
My cat won't eat cereal (he only goes for the left over milk), so I guess I'll have to. I figured I could turn this into something I could write about, while working on my creative writing skills (not that I am very good at this writing thing to begin with). I should have sent Kerri the box of cereal! Oh well, it's open now, gotta eat it. First off, I don't think any child has ever sat down to a bowl of cereal and said, "Oh mom, I need my piece of fruit and toast for it to be a complete breakfast". "Part of a complete breakfast," my ass! Let's be real; it's all about the sugar high.

So, I decided to check out the nutritional facts. I ask you: what nutrition is there in this stuff? They did put some vitamins in it, but it's still 120 calories. (If you add the skim milk, it's 160. Who the hell drank skim when they are a kid? I go 2% and figure it's like 200 calories in the real world). The best part of the nutritional facts is they say a serving is one cup (30g). You have got to be kidding me! Do these people have children? It should read, "5-6 cups depending on if it's Saturday and you can watch cartoons at your leisure."

Pink Hearts, Orange Stars, Green Clovers, Blue Moons, Purple Horseshoes, Red Balloons, Pots of Gold and Rainbows - Did I miss any??
Okay, other than the fact that they added a lot more marshmallows and changed the shapes, it's still the same old Lucky Charms. It used to be an art form, trying to get a few marshmallows with every bite. Now, I am sitting here with a spoon in hand, looking to see if there's any non-marshmallow cereal! (I did have this conversation with a coworker, she used to try to leave a few in the bowl to help wash down the milk).

So, you get lame toys (if any, in cereal these days) but more sugar. I guess it's a toss up.

Magically Delicious
So, what to do while I eat my cereal? Surf the net, of course!

Here's what I found that was of interest: www.geocities.com/lckychrms6, a site dedicated to Lucky Charms and its mascot, Lucky.

The Luck Charms Bedroom Personality Test is worth checking out, as well as the Lucky Charms Religion Test.

And we thought we couldn't learn anything from a bowl of cereal.
