The Dating Begins
After much deliberation, by which I mean no deliberation at all, but more a matter of me going into my email and saying, 'Uh, yeah, he sounds ok," our daters have been selected and plans have been made.
First up this week is Jason. Jason actually contacted me through a regular online dating site, but when I told him about the contest he was all for it. He made the brilliant suggestion of going bowling, which shows that he's my kind of guy already. Drinks should also be involved, which will just make everything all the more tingly and exciting.
On deck after Jason is Nick, who you may remember from last week as the not-hairy good cook. Nick and I will be taking in a Sox game. This is already sending positive vibes my way, as I love Fenway Park, and I love the SNL skit where Jimmy Fallon plays the Bostonian and keeps saying 'Nomahhhh!' I also love when Jimmy Fallon just sits there looking pretty. And did you see him during the Elton John skit this weekend? I love when things fall apart and all they can do is laugh at themselves. Come to think of it, Tina Fey is pretty hot too. A Jimmy/Tina sandwich would suit me just fine. I hope Nick is taking notes here.
I was hoping date number three would be Chad/Junk Rubber. Unfortunately, Chad took our little game a little too personally and removed his hat from the ring in the form of an email that said many things, but came down to me being an evil bitch. I think that's a bit hasty, but I suppose some name-calling is to be expected for taking someone's perfectly nice correspondence and turning it into fodder for my own sleazy needs. Apologies Chad, no harm intended. And you seemed like you were going to be such fun.
And now, because I still have space to fill, here's a little anecdote about my friend, Avi.
Avi gets chatting with a girl online who found him because he listed his alma mater in his profile and she was still a student there. Avi and said girl start to chat often. Avi tells girl she can meet him for drinks with friends one night. Avi fails to mention that his girlfriend will be with him because, hey, if she's cute, he'll work something out.
Said girl never exactly shows up, but must have gotten a look at him in the bar and seen his date. Girl calls Avi and asks if that's his car out front of the bar, 'just to make sure I'm in the right place.' He says why yes, it is his car. Hours later, Avi exits the bar and finds his car with four flat tires.
Have your own online dating story? Do tell. And come back next week to hear more of mine.
