Mmmm... Heaven
Recently, I was given a glimpse into what my heaven might be like. It involves me, a comfortable chair, and Rush playing loudly in front of me. In the alternative, hell might be the same scenario, with a less comfortable chair, millions of people, and RUSH not playing loud enough to drown out the people singing around me.
The Rush concert at the Fleet Center was a lot closer to heaven. I had seen them on the Vapor Trails Tour in June at the Tweeter Center, but I enjoyed the Fleet Center show more. Maybe it was the slightly different crowd of people…not to insult any readers, but if you're a fat, white guy with matted dreads down to your ass who hasn't showered since the Presto Tour, get a life. Please. Plus, the Fleet Center with its four walls and a roof really allowed me to feel the music. The beat of the drums made my heartbeat jump and change and I could feel the bass vibrating the ice somewhere beneath my feet. Sure, I couldn't hear properly for two days, but such is the price of heaven.
Rush is a unique band, to me at least. (I've heard there are some people who don't like them out there. Somewhere.) It's a concert I can go to where there is never a song that "I don't really like" and one of the few places I can go and get really excited about a rock and roll song without any words (Where's my thing?). And then, there are the members that I love so much.
[Excessive Fawning Follows... - Ed.]
Geddy Lee: How the hell do you play the bass so well and sing lead vocals?
Neil Peart: How can a man's hands move so fast? And where can I find one?
Alex Lifeson: I never loved the guitar until I heard you. You are a God. And I don't think you're too fat.
Mmmm... More Heaven
Yup, a little slice of heaven for me. Just throw Riker in beside me, and I'll be set for the rest of existence!
