Wil Wheaton on the Web
by Jennifer Saylor, Comic Conventional Staff Writer

What ever happened to...?
Wil Wheaton formerly of Star TrekEver wonder what some actors/actresses have done with their lives since their last movie or TV show? And no, I am not talking about some puppy-love, soft-porn fictional ramblings of some fan, but really what they are up to, what they think and care about in general and such. Such sites do exist and can quickly become part of your daily activity as you surf the net.

That's why I recommend you check out www.wilwheaton.net.

Not the Final Frontier
Yes, there is life after Star Trek! For those of you who watched the Next Generation you know Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher. Some of us (like me and a lot of newmoanyeah readers) grew up along with Wil Wheaton as we watched him on the show and in movies.

So why, you ask, would you go check out this guy's site?

It's Funny
Wil covers lots of subject matters. Much of it comes from his daily life and things that happen to him and his family; from his close encounter at Hooters (when someone recognized him) to telling us about an audition for a part, or of his recent convention appearances. Wil writes what he thinks and how he feels about the topic. One nice feature he has is a posting board so you can leave your thoughts and read those of other "fans."

It's informative... in some ways.
If you're a ST fan, you can find out about his recent work in the latest Star Trek movie (that unfortunately got cut). Don't feel bad Wil. Even Spider-Man creator, Stan "The Man" Lee had most of his screen-time cut from the Spider-Man Movie.

Wil has links to support things like free speech online, Internet radio and other web links that support free thought and standing up for what you believe. I would like him to update his picks for music, books and movies. Heck, they should be paying him for plugging their products!

Comin' back for more.
But, what's kept me coming back the most is his writing about the ordinary things in his life that keeps you interested. The ups and downs of being a parent, an actor, a Star Trek Survivor and just being a person. Go and read the entry from October 9, 2002. It's about Wil and his family, the simple joy of playing with your kids and remembering what it was like to be that age. He takes you back in time to his own childhood and playing "Hide & Seek" and how being an adult can mess up your playtime with those you love.

Not only are you drawn into this very personal account of playing with the kids, but the responses from the other people who read the posts remind you that the rest of the "world" did the same things you did when you were a kid. We all wish we spent more time with our families and that in this age of technology you can go out and have a good game of "Hide & Seek" at any age.

I hope Wil gets to read this... maybe we'll make his next entry!
